I went in the men's restroom to wash my hands because the other bathroom was occupied. It was dirty, toilet full of urine and smelled so bad I literally had to hold my breath. I informed one of the employees that the bathroom was dirty and smelled really bad, she looked at me like she had heard that complaint before and completely dismissed. I went back to the restroom after I ate to wash my hands and the bathroom was still dirty and the toilet STILL had not been flushed!!! I asked the cashier (Haley) who the manager was, she asked me why. I told her that I let someone know earlier that the bathroom was dirty and it was still dirty. She gave me a lame excuse why it was dirty and acted like it was the least of her concerns. She then asked me with an attitude why I was in there ...why the hell does anyone go to the bathroom in the first place, duh! Between the constant swatting of flies while I eat and the bathrooms in the same category as a nasty gas station or Wal-Mart...I have completely lost any desire to ever step foot into that location again.

Love this place. Every single person genuinely makes your food with love. And you can feel it!

This was my first time at any Freebirds location. The kids meals were great. My girls loved both the quesadilla and the burritos. I got the steak nachos. YUM. It was wonderful. Every bite was full of steak, queso, pico and corn. I loved that the tortilla chips were substantial enough that they stayed crisp even with all the toppings. So good. Definitely will be back.

Good food, but the women's restroom was absolutely disgusting. Makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. Yikes. Couldn't have been cleaned 'properly' in over a month.

I have been a fan of Freebirds since the late 90's and I visited the one in Bryan/College station. I think the atmosphere is great, and who doesn't like a good burrito. I do find it funny, how they have expanded the menu to keep up with competition. The Monster Steak Bird, with lots of BBQ sauce is the way to go!!!

Doesn't look like this is a very popular Free Birds was dead when we got here. The staff is super friendly and helpful. You know when you go to Free Birds and you hope you get that person who hooks you up with a lot of ingredients that's there whole staff they loaded up our burritos. The only negative thing I have to say is the person who wrapped my girlfriend burrito did a messy job but it's only cause it was so loaded with stuff so it's still a plus.

This place is pretty packed on the weekends! The staff was friendly and as fast as they could be. The restroom was clean also! That is all.

Started off with slow service. We waited in line for about 20 minutes at 730pm which kinda sucks since there were only 2 couples in front of us. Then when I get to the register the sizes I ordered are wrong on 2 of the burritos. Just a bad visit all together.

Funny I've only tried the one here, but never been to the one in San Jose (where I live). As much as I love Mexican food, I have only been to Chipotle and Freebirds a coupla times each. They both have the same mantra as a Togo's or Subway - assembly line style - so they're both in the same special niche (commercial mainstream Mexican that is a notch above Taco Bell), and make sense as competitors. I think I like Freebirds better than Chipotle, cuz their ingredients/meat seem better, more fresh, and more refined. Whereas most ppl seem to get the burritos, I like to get the taco, cuz they're the perfect size for me, and I can get em "packed with a punch". Note that they offer the same set of ingredients that you get with the burrito, only that it's smaller, and price is $2.75. You get your choice of tortilla (corn or flour), and I get the corn. You get your choice of meat, and I get the pork, which is tender. You get your choice of spanish rice or cilantro lime rice, and I get the white kind (cilantro lime) I skip the beans, get the cheddar, go with tomatoes and pico de gallo, and then fresh japapenos. Last of all, I go with the guacamole, which is an "extra" at $0.50 additional. It's kind of like chemistry. Creativity is all in your hands, but get the right formula going, and you get the WOW factor.

I love great Mexican food but to me this is just kind of bland. I'd much rather have the restaurant dining experience as this place sometimes takes as long as a sit down restaurant. There's always a huge line, it's always loud and crowded. The food is mediocre and just all thrown together. Prices are a little high in my opinion. I'd go to Torchy's Tacos over this any day.

  • Chelsea C.

Why did I not find this place earlier. I am in love. If you love Tex mex this is the place for you! I LOVE the queso too. I recommend dipping your freebird in the cheesey goodness! When I first went here I ended up eating it for two lunches that week! And dinner if you count me eating the leftovers! Staff is awesome too. They are very attentive, happy to see you, even asked about my day and what I was doing which was a nice change from normal fast food experiences. Love that they actually joke with you! I can tell the management is really treating their employees with respect because of how happy they are!

Freebirds is usually the go-to for my wife and I when we want a good-ole burrito. We were close to this location this past weekend so we stopped in. We figured we'd get the same great service and same great food as we normally do at the Center Ridge location. Well.... - You're not welcomed. - The wrapping of the burrito was far from par. - The assembly-type workflow makes the burrito-making experience less enjoyable. It's more of a "next, next, next, k-thanks, bye type of feel." - When educated on the reason why we couldn't use our points but claim the additional points for other burritos, I felt like I was in the principal's office getting hit over the wrist with a ruler...my bad! Food tasted like Freebirds which is good, I guess.

The vegan burrito options in Round Rock are seriously lacking so Freebirds is by default the location of choice. While the food is by no means top notch gourmet it is cheap, good, and filling. I've had great experiences here and have had mediocre to poor experiences as well. For the most part the employees are helpful, willing to accommodate, and are hard working. However, on occasion you will run in to someone who is so bewildered by their surroundings that trying to guide them through your burrito path is straight up painful. That being said, overall this place runs pretty efficiently. Due to the convenience and perks I will keep coming back here. I particularly like that they offer free kid's meals on Tuesdays. Pros: A variety of tortilla flavors, salsa is great, different sizes of burritos, super cheap way to feed a family, Freebirds card is a nice perk for returning customers, Cons: Guacamole is not very good, roasted vegetables are usually poorly cooked, inconsistent service and burrito sizes.

Freebirds definitely fits the bill if you are looking for a lot of food for not a big price. Their regular Freebird size burrito will more than fill up the average person. Taste-wise, there isn't much to rave about; meats are ok but not very spicy (probably on purpose) but you can make your burrito as spicy as you'd like with their different salsas, fresh pico and fresh jalapenos. I had all of the above on my chicken (somewhat dry; would recommend the carnitas) and it made for a good burrito; no complaints! Freebird size burrito and a drink for less than $10; not a bad lunch option!

  • Jw L.

Freebirds is just one of those stops you have to go if you're ever in Austin. It's like Chipotle except better in every way! You always get large portions so you are sure to leave full. My favorite though is the Monster nachos! Top your nachos with whatever you'd like. It's a meal fit for 2 for the price of 1.

  • Lyndsey H.

Love Freebirds and it's so much better than chipotle just wish everyone was consistent on the portion size sometimes portions can be a quiet a big different depending on who is making the burrito or bowl in my case.

  • Karin N.

First time here. We walked up to the girl and ordered the burrito we heard from friends that was so good! The girl did not tell us we had a choice of wraps for the burrito! At the end of the line we were not told we could make our meals combos till I ordered a side of queso! Now as for taste, bland is the best way to describe the chicken in our burritos. It says on the menu grilled but looked and tasted like it was fresh out of the freezer. The only good part was the brownie. Over all disappointed and we won't be back!

  • Paul M.

Haven't been to a freebirds in a while.first time at this location .The freebird burrito I got was not like how I remember freebirds being .staff was nice .paying extra for guacamole and only getting enough for one bite kinda crappy.def pick chipotle over freebirds anyday

    (2)
  • Danny H.

Great place to eat. Being from the East Coast, I found it to be an even better version of "Chipotle" with many more sides, toppings, and even tortilla selection...not to mention the size of these behemoths. Dark Chicken is where it's at!

  • Mike V.

I loveeees me some Freebirds! This is yet another option for lunch, since it is so dang close to work. I like the cafeteria style ordering process, so you can choose all of your ammunition to load into that huge burrito. I usually order the standard Freebird which is plenty big, however, the other night I got to see the infamous "SUPER BIRD!!" OMG!! What a creation! This burrito must have weiged about 7 pounds! It was about the size of a computer keyboard! I've never seen anything like it. I dont know how much it costed, but I know it probably would have lasted me a week. Man Vs.Food's Adam Richmond should try this sucker. Awesome service, great aluminum foil art, and Death Sauce!

Carnitas was deliciously moist. Got the "monster" as a burrito bowl and was stuffed :)

Pros: Nice, friendly staff. Good food, when it's not salted to death. Lots of veggie options, good choices for rice, beans, salsa, etc. Cons: -Our food was soooo salty, bordering on inedible. They need to cut back on this. The salt was mostly in the chips, veggies, and lime rice. -The noise level is extreme. It made ordering difficult and conversations impossible. -Service needs to be stepped up in certain areas: for example, when the staff was notified that a couple of the soda syrups had run out, no one came to refill during the time we were eating. There were plenty of folks there to handle this quick task, but they seemed uninterested in doing so (even though they came over to refill their own cups at various times).

Love! Employees are fast and friendly, and have fun with each other & customers. Even when they place is busy they get you through quick and with a Smile. Food is fresh and so many options.

It's like Subway, but for giant burritos! What's not to love? Your choice of massively sized burritos and a plethora of fillings you specify you'd like included as you walk the assembly line. On my first time here, the Burrito-Builder took pity on me and made several suggestions which made my burrito fit for a king: lime juice, roasted garlic, corn relish. I did make a rookie mistake and ordered a burrito that was the size of a football, but it made for an amazing 2am snack that night, so I say go big and take home left-overs! Price seemed very reasonable to me, especially given the gigantic proportions and the freshness of the ingredients. The $1.99 chips and salsa are well worth it, too - a nice brown bag of warm chips and super fresh salsa. As another reviewer said, it's easy to compare Freebirds to Chipotle, but I like Freebirds better, It's like Chipotle but cheaper, fresher ingredients, more Austin, and less soccer moms.

Gosh, this place is a gem. Staff is keeping Round Rock weird, and and accommodating. I have a gluten allergy, and they are always helpful in doing the right stuff for someone like me. They change their gloves, inform me of changes in what is GF or not, and if there is someone new, they know to check with someone who does know. Also, Kids eat free here every Sunday and Monday, and my 5 yr old loves it. A+

  • Robert G.

Freebirds is one of the first places I ever ate in Austin in 1998. I loved it and though the chain has become more corporate I still find the food solid and the staff interesting. It's not the highest end burrito but who goes here for culinary excellence. I come here because I'm hungry. Burritos are much like tacos in that I've never met one I didn't like. Here you get multiple choices and I tell people it's like Subway but for burritos. I don't eat here constantly but I never consider it a bad idea.

  • Nicki D.

Ya know.. I love Freebirds. Not as much as my 15 year old, but tey are pretty darn tasty. I love that everyone is traditionally so damn friendly, its contagious... But the ONE thing that kills me is the prices that places charge for Guac & Sour Cream, man! I don't get it. Its already about $8 for a big burrito, no drink- to charge upwards of $1 each, just is kind of a tiny kick to the gut to loyal FB's patrons. Will it stop me from going, hell no, lol. IJS.. I know everything costs $, but dangit. Havent had a thing from FB's I didnt like. YUM. O.

Shady!!! No receipts were given to any customers when we came tonight. And our order was rang up as a combo, when it wasn't. When ask for a refund, the cashier rang up a separate transaction (different ticket #) and tried to pass it off as a refund. Had to get a "manager" involved. He refunded the difference/corrected amount and showed on the receipt that the transaction number matched the original. Good food. Love their burritos, nachos, and pot brownies. But check your wallets! It may be a little lighter than you expect.

I'm sure the Chipotle comparisons get old, but after years of being the kind of die-hard first-names-basis with the manager of my local franchise fan, I finally tried Freebirds after a grueling trip to the nearby IKEA lowered my inhibitions. Pro: I love that drinks are set up so that you get yours while in line. It eliminates the pesky process of balancing a cup with your plate/tray after leaving the cashier when you just want to sit down and eat already. Con: While in line, you also get a dismal view of the kitchen and grill thanks to a large window. As my husband and I neared the window, we could see the cook scraping the grill in preparation for cooking another round of meat. Just as I was thinking how nice it was that they don't let old grease and whatnot cake up, the cook proceeded to prop up the grill brush, scraper side down, ON the tiled kitchen floor AGAINST A TRASHCAN. He did this in plain view of the customers who were still waiting in line. I really think I was too brain-dead after my aforementioned trip to IKEA to do much of anything except meekly order my $5 taco meal and shudder in disgust. The three stars are mostly due to the super friendly people who work there. Sadly, I won't be going back thanks to their disgusting kitchen practices.

What is that place that was owned by McDonald's at one point that sells burritos? Oh yeah, that place, but I tend to forget their name because of Freebirds. The service and sauce/salsa self serve bar are just a couple of reasons I prefer Freebirds over the other place. The queso is also something to mention as a "stand-out". It's interesting in a good way but definitely not the run of the meal queso. Tacos, burritos (OMG) the burritos! I don't think I will ever the room in my stomach to try the Super Monster or Monster for that matter - but I have always entertained the idea. Each time I visit I try to mix it up between a burrito or bowl. I have yet to dive into the salads because I'm here for the meat, beans, corn salsa, and whatever else I can pile into it without bogging it down in lettuce. Service is always outstanding and I really appreciate my food a lot more when the people preparing it really seem to enjoy what they are doing. If you don't like Freebirds you must have been raised in a closet. I'm just sayin'!

i am a regualr at freebirds, everything is delicious that i have tried there. heres my perfect meal: -spinach tortilla -cilantro lime rice -half steak/half chicken (carnitas is also good) -lime juice -mixed cheese -tomatilla sauce -roasted garlic -lettuce -tortilla strips -badass bbq they're queso is also the best queso i have ever had in my entire life. nothing is better. if you havnt been to freebirds, i feel sorry for you. this place is always good, always consistent and the staff is always friendly and eager with sugguestions about various combonations.

I eat here quit often, I used to get the freebird but recently I have switched to the salads. I usually get everything tossed with the dressing. The dark chicken is good, and the pork is also good. You just need to say much about freebirds... its awesome.

  • Daniel G.

Not sure about this place...it was a bit rude. When we got there my friend and i were together so we tried to order, however the person serving us only wanted to take my friends order and not mine. So he explained it to her that we were together and then she tells somebody else to help me...but oh wait nevermind i will do it that is ok...like if she couldn't take two orders at once. Other then that she would still only talk to him about my order...i didn't get it and it was rude. For the most part i wouldn't go back to this place again...5 bucks for two taco's that only had a little bit of chicken but was filled with beans and other stuff. Mind you they were small...for 5 bucks i could have gone somewhere else and had an actual meal. Their logo has a F in a circle...that is what i give them an F...

Very nice staff. Love the salads and burritos. Great points system. Must try pot brownie. Great decor, ample space inside and outside. Slightly slow service compared to Chipotle especially during lunch time.

Great food at a great price. I was looking for a place like this after moving here from California. I stupidly left my credit card at home and they were totally cool about it and didn't treat me like I was trying to pull a fast one. Will be going here again for sure.

    (5)
  • Erin M.

Service was super good and helpful. The selection was plentiful and the burrito my husband ate wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to write home about. The price was average around $10.

  • Amber D.

I ate here on Sunday 11/17/13, it was my second and last experience with Freebirds. The quality of the meats are very low, the product in them didn't taste fresh, and to top it off, I found a hair in my food. I had a chicken burrito bowl and my boyfriend had a beef one, we both felt the same way, before we were done eating my boyfriend told me his stomach hurt, and sure enough in an hour I was sick too. The word I would use to describe the experience is - GROSS- For the same price there are other alternatives in the market that are much better.

I can't stop staring at him. I've been craving it for months now. I close my eyes at night and try to convince my subconscious to dream about being with him. Just so I can fantasize about the experience in the most romantic of settings. To taste him and feel the juices just run down the tip of my tongue with the remaining droplets just balancing on my bottom lip. I savor it. It is the definition of bliss. I peel back the covering and gently run my fingers around him. Gently caressing the shape...soft touches...as if he were a calla lily and anything other than a soft pressing of my fingers would cause irreversible damage. I've got goosebumps now. This just doesn't happen. I feel like a schoolgirl parked in a secluded location about to [censored]. Tingles going up and down my spine....senses are extremely heightened...heart is beating like a war drum. I reach down and softly nibble. (pause for dramatic effect) I just love...love...LOVE my slow roasted carnitas Freebird burrito with just an extra helping of cilantro. You will too. *adapted from the screenplay (previous review, see below) written by Joe D. Well, actually, I only changed about a half dozen words from 'her' to 'him.' Guess that makes it damn near plagiarism. I'm hoping he won't mind ;)

I have been eating Freebirds burritos for a decade, since I was at Texas A&M in the mid 90s. I have a fanatic card and use it often at lots of locations. This location, in particular, always goes very light on the portion sizes of the ingredients they put in your burrito. I always have to ask for more of each thing they scoop. I don't like stopping at this location since I feel like they always jip me on portion sizes. I would rather drive an extra 15 minutes to the Burnet/Kramer location.

Wooo Hooo!! The bird has landed in Round Rock! If tasty burritos that are more food than you SHOULD eat at one time is your thing, then swing by a Freebird. They tend to overfill with rice and beans, but the meat is pretty good if you can get it. (I cut you down from 4 to 3 stars because of your meat ratio being so poor) The guacamole is pretty good, and I tried the queso for the first time today and I enjoyed that. The set-up of the place is a bit odd, and it makes it hard to get drink refills. Also, they have so many employees wandering around it is pretty odd. I got tired of people asking me if everything was okay and could they get me a drink refill. Hey! Leave me alone! I just want to eat my burrito. They probably over-hired to see who works out, and who gets the boot. Anyway, They have been open for one week, and I've been twice just so I could give them a fair review. The summary is: Weird layout, not enough meat, too much beans and rice, too many employees wandering around. Hopefully things will calm down in the next few weeks.

Freebirds is sort of the Bizarro world Chipotles. If you've ever seen the Bizarro episode of Seinfeld you'll know what I'm talking about. That's the episode where the Seinfeld crew are the nice people, instead of their selfish, narcissistic normal selves. And that episode, in turn, is based I assume on the old Superman comics, where the Bizarro superman is evil. In our world, Chipotle servers act like the customer is an annoyance, and they slop the food on the tray in such a way that you would probably be just as well off having them throw it to you, and you try to get under it to see if you can get it to land on your taco. Freebirds, on the other hand, has these great kids (I call them kids because I'm 50ish and they are in their 20s - so they're kids, okay?) who go out of their way to give you a nice eating experience. Today I went, and the cashier drummed his fingers while waiting for his slow cash register to decide if it was going to crash. I think the poor guy apologized about 20 times in a period of a minute and a half. The burrito builders are always very pleasant, seem like they're having a bit of fun, and, actually seem to care that you end up with the burrito you actually wanted. Also today, my wife went up to the counter and reported that the salsa she got seemed a bit old. Then, she went to sit back down. We've eaten there a number of times, so we just didn't care that much about that one aberration and continued to eat, not really thinking anything about it. A few minutes later some kid came by and proudly presented a round plastic container of salsa, saying he had just made it. That kind of stuff is worth an extra star in the Yelp world, as far as I'm concerned. As far as taste, it's really my favorite place for burritos. I do enjoy the food at Chipotles, too, and they are comparable places in my view. But eating at Chipotles is a little like prison dining, whereas Freebirds is fun and friendly. It may seem silly to give 5 stars to a joint like this, but the comp is a place like Chipotles, not some 5 star restaurant in the heart of San Francisco.

Please for the love of all that is good, bring back the $5.00 taco meal. Don't make us go to Taco Bell. We will. But we don't want to.

I really enjoy eating here every time. When I moved to Texas from Pennsylvania, one thing I thought I'd really miss was my favorite restaurant, CalTort. Thankfully, I won't miss them too much with Freebirds around!! I have to be careful though not to get anything too spicy, but that's my lack of tolerance, not a problem on their part. My favorite thing is the chicken freebird.

Great food, love the chicken burrito. Reasonable priced, in a local shopping center, good staff

Love Freebird's! Why? 1. Fast service 2. Friendly funky people 3. Delicious 4. Vegetarian options (most important because usually all restaurants have to offer is a limp salad. I like to get big fat burritos) 5. Seating inside and out 6. Pet friendly in their outdoor seating areas 7. Use grass-fed beef for my omnivore friends 8. Beans are not bland. I'm Mexican so that's important 9. If you get the veggie burrito, you get guacamole for free! 10. They play music I recognize. 11. They have recycle stations for everything from plastic to batteries and cell phones 12. Ok I'm going to stop here. I think you get it. Freebird's is awesome. So go eat there. My choice? Hybird on regular flour with black beans, cilantro lime rice, roasted bell peppers and onions, tomato, pico, cilantro, guacamole, queso, and lime juice. With a pink lemonade. Try it. It's good.

Burrito Bowl is where it's at, man! You get an easy-to eat big-ass burrito in a large bowl (you can even get the tortilla at the bottom), and tell em to pile it all on. Freebirds is a local business, and I always support these more so than national franchises. This place always has cool servers, and just writing this review makes me hungry! Also, try their pot-brownies... (No, there's no real pot in em)...

  • Brett D.

I love Freebirds but this store is not well run. It is always dirty and I would be surprised if people don't get food poisoning there. I have been there three times hoping it would get better.

  • W F.

Update: Music issue has cleared up since I was here last. Unfortunately, they pulled the recycling bins that made me really like this place over so many Round Rock destinations. ---- Good: * Consistently good food * Reliably good service

  • Richard Q.

FreeBirds no longer has the Taco Meal... So I ordered it ala carte. Cost almost $10 for 2 tacos, chips and drink. That's ok I thought to myself. I'll pay with the points I've built up.... But NOOOO.... FreeBirds won't accept points for anything but a burrito now. Needless to say... They just lost a customer...

    (1)
  • Gabriel W.

The service is great and most of the food is good but AVOID THE LETTUCE, my first trip here I couldn't figure out what was wrong, today confirmed that it's their lettuce that's terrible. I can't tell if its old, if they steam it but its mushy, tastes terrible, and ruins burritos. Its more like boiled cabbage than lettuce.

    (2)
  • Vanessa R.

LOVE Freebirds! So glad they have moved to Round Rock! You can make a million different burritos here--that's the great part! I am still trying to perfect my own personal chicken burrito. I haven't gotten there yet, but I don't mind experimenting along the way! Great customer service, really friendly servers. They also recycle! The cookies and brownies are to die for. Don't forget your Freebirds Fanatic card!

Just like I loved in College Station almost 20 years ago. There are a few more options now, but it's still the same fresh, fast, perfectly seasoned food that I remember from college. the staff are always friendly and helpful, even with the obnoxious orders I have for the kids (don't let the ingredients touch, etc.).

Not as good as the one down in central austin but it was good. Food was prepared quickly but rice seemed overly dried out and steak was cold :( Still tastey but I wish it was better. I was soooo hungry

  • Matt A.

The wife and I rarely go out to eat, but when we do it's usually here. She's a picky eater who craves variety, yet it seems she's always in the mood for a custom burrito. Three standouts at this Freebirds. 1. The Staff. They are always friendly, helpful, patient, and willing to have a conversation and a laugh with you. They're very laid-back and seem genuinely happy to be there with each other and, remarkably, even you the customer. 2. The Ingredients. Any time you show up there are a few staffers chopping veggies, grilling meats, and restocking all the product. You not only see the freshness and quality in the food but you taste it too. Excellent every time so far. Best meat is the carnitas, but lately I've been enjoying the steak (grass-fed, really?). The carnitas are marinated and ohhhh-so good. The steak has a great tooth to it and is always very flavorful. Chicken is so-so, but an option if you're pinching pennies and/or don't want red meat. 3. The Atmosphere. Rock/Indie tunes, industrial setting, and burrito-foil sculptures adorning the entire restaurant. Nothing fancy or pretentious just light-hearted and comfortable. The perfect place to sit and nom on a burrito. My typical burrito consists of a whole-wheat or cayenne tortilla, no rice, pinto and black beans, a touch of jack cheese, steak, pico, red onion, cilantro, poblano salsa, fresh jalapeno, double roasted garlic, a few dashes of habanero sauce, and that's all she wrote. I'm full for about six hours thereafter. My only gripes would be: 1. Meat portions could be a tad larger. I'd say they're fair and I understand that they're also concerned with providing value, but I'm a carnivore. I'll almost always want more. 2. Beer selection. Sure, it's a burrito joint and you can't expect a brewpup's taplist, but throw me a bone here that isn't Lone Star or Shiner. Maybe a few of Austin's own micros like Independence or Real Ale deserve a tap or two on the list. 4 stars seems low given how much I enjoy the place, but 5 is reserved for the best. Highly recommended all the same.

I was actually impressed. Found this place by total mistake (not on the GPS systems yet, I guess it's new). Walked in, told the guy it was my first time there and he was so nice in guiding me through the process of how they do their burritos. I ended up with a chicken burrito on a spinach wrap. Super patient with me as I ordered and stared at the line up of ingredients. I got the guac and the side of chips too. Honestly, it was a large meal for me, even with the smallest sized burrito. Very happy to have eaten here - will do so again. Knocks Chipolte's socks off.

It's like Chipotle, but better. In town for work and needed lunch yesterday.....and my co-worker who has been here multiple times in the recent months, said, let's go to Freebird's. So I was hungry, I didn't care. First of all the openness of the restauarnt was great...windows everywhere...lots of light. The staff was awesome....the girl that fixed my order was friendly and talkative and was patient with me when I couldn't make up my mind. Apparently she was so hungry on Monday after being on the lake all day she came there to the restaurant and had a Monster size burrito. Great atmosphere. I'm likely to go there again when I'm back down in Sept and Oct.

Inviting atmosphere Good food, nice staff, fresh ingredients worth the short wait. Get the combo with chips n queso + a drink, worth the $2 bucks!

I absolutely love Freebirds. I go here twice a week for lunch and it's great every time. My go to is a Freebird on flour with spanish rice, mixed cheese, black beans, carnitas, and mild tomatillo sauce. The staff at this location is also very friendly. They always chat me up while making my burrito and a number of them even remember me.

Tried it today and don't like it. It was pretty tasteless. Chipote is far superior to this copycat. Freebirds is close to my home but I won't go back. Not worth the money and not good. I rate it a yuck.

I got the steak burrito, which was very tasty. But I was a bit confused about all the toppings. Are they extra? Can I have whatever I want without being charged an arm and a leg? It was too loud int here to get clear answers so I kept to a minimum of fillings. 1 star for the Queso...it was vile. As were the "blue" tortilla chips that came with it. The chips were a mix of three colors. The blue chips were like the funky blueish-green color of mold. Not attractive in the slightest. I realize they are NOT moldy, but as the person eating them, they looked highly unappetizing. I'll have to checkout the website menu and see if I can figure out the pricing and I will certainly be back for another burrito. But I will pass on the chips and queso.

With a large family that includes 4 children, it's a rare day when all of our kids can agree on a place to eat. That being said...this is the place where ALL the kids will beg to go to. I love the variety of burrito's available! The staff is great! Friendly, helpful and extremely patient with those who have a difficult time making up their minds (this would be my husband...lol). I love that you have the option of dining outside...you know...when it isn't 100+ degrees outside. The only reason I am only giving this 4 stars is because it is always a little loud inside. It's not exactly a place you want to try to have a conversation, but if you want good food at a good price and like loud music...then this is your place to go!

Great FRESH food always! The staff is friendly and efficient. I suggest you order online if you're going during lunch rush, but other times of the day it's easy to just pop in and have your food made as you stroll through the line. Get the fanatic card, this is food you will return for, and before you know it, you'll have enough points for a free meal! I highly recommend the burrito bowls and salads!.

What a great place. Such a fun atmosphere and all the weirdness of Austin to boot. The dining area is smaller than I would have expected judging from the outside but that is due to the layout of the place. The double sided soda fountain with all the condiments, aka sauces, sets between the order line and the dining room so you can grab a drink while you wait to order. Groovy idea but it was a logistics problem when it came time for someone to refill the ice. There is also a very long, high table running through the center of the dining room that adds to the cramped feeling. All the people working there on the night we went seemed eager and friendly. For those who are newer to the experience, that is useful as one person walks you through the entire ordering process rather than handing off. Let's see if that stays. The food is pretty good, especially if you like filler. Want a chicken taco? Okay, rice and beans it is. I could hardly taste my chicken due to the massive amounts of beans. Dude, you don't have to pile the chicken on, just don't overpower it with all those beans! Guacamole had a little kick to it that the kiddo couldn't live with. The queso was hard and cold on the night we went but I suspect that is a rare thing. This is a place I will visit again though I will be more careful with my ordering techniques as I get the hang of things.

I love this place! Everyone is friendly even when it's busy. Kind of a confusing set up though. There is a good selection of meats and stuffing. =) I had a carnitas taco meal and it was delicious. Definitely will be going back.

I have loved Freebirds ever since the first time I went in College Station. They make a great product in a cool environment. Every Freebirds location I've been to has been cool in their own way. Their BBQ sauce is awesome and I soak my burrito with it. I think you should get any type of tortilla other than the normal flour. My favorite is the wheat. I also like the roasted garlic and cilantro.

The atmosphere is awesome, great place to have good conversation and good food. The staff is super friendly and can answer any question they smile and make you feel welcomed. I tried the taco combo with chicken last time I was in, I was not a huge fan at all. My chicken was cold and the flavor just was not great. I will try something else another time but not the tacos again. Other the not so great tacos I love this place and the burrito will always be good!

Cant say enough great things about Freebirds, great food, fun family friendly atmosphere and the employees exceed anything you expect from a restaurant, let alone one with such a high turnaround. They are SUPER nice to my daughter and make it a fun experience always!

I had high hopes for this place based on recommendations from friends but I really don't like it anywhere near as much as Chipotle... I find the meat and salsas fairly bland... the selection is decent but for the money I prefer Chipotle

Originally from College Station (but we won't hold that against them), Freebirds had found a way to combine a few quality ingredients into great burritos, tacos, salads and quesadillas. The lively staff is well tenured and very professional. Service is phenomenal. This is a great stop to fill your gut. One warning: getting meals for you + kids has historically been difficult because of the way they cycle customers through a one way assembly line, some locations are better than others at this.

I really like this place. Good, quality food at good prices. American-style burritos- (you can get bbq sauce on them). A wide array of sauces, meats, etc. I had the grilled chicken burrito on spinach with rice, black beans, pico de gallo and cheese- pretty standard but delicious. They even put lime juice on your meat- if you so desire. The burritos are ENORMOUS! The hyrbid (smallest one) could feed my husband and I (if we got chips too). It's in a really nice area off University. I'd pick these guys over Chipotle. Hormone free meat- and they have "pot brownies" lol. Cute, quirky place with decent burritos.

We went there for lunch at prime time so it was busy. The line moved very slowly. It was so noisy that I could not hear what the employees behind the counter were saying. It made it difficult to order. I had the steak burrito bowl. It was ok. Plenty of food. Not much meat in it but what there was was tasty enough. Nothing spicy about the meal at all, even when I added their 'Death Sauce'. The layout of the restaurant was strange but interesting...1960's hippy counter-culture. In comparing FreeBirds to Chipotle, for me, Chipotle wins. Tastier food; more spice. FreeBirds is a good addition to our lunch stops, but it is just average.

Freebirds is awesome!! The food is great and everyone there is always so friendly. It's really nice to eat somewhere people are smiling and enjoy their job so much, definitely #1 in customer service in the Austin/RR area. Also, as a personal trainer I can tell you that this is the healthiest fast food on the planet, just substitute your cheese for fresh slice avocado, for free! :) Great job Freebirds team, you are now my regular lunch and dinner spot.

If I leave here tomorrow Would you still remember me? For I must be traveling on now 'Cause there's too many places I've got to see. But if I stayed here with you, girl, Things just couldn't be the same. 'Cause I'm as free as a bird now, And this bird you can not change, oh, oh, oh, oh. And this bird you can not change. And this bird you can not change. Lord knows I can't change. Bye, bye, baby, it's been a sweet love, yeah, Though this feeling I can't change. But please don't take it so badly, 'Cause Lord knows I'm to blame. But if I stayed here with you, girl, Things just couldn't be the same. 'Cause I'm as free as a bird now, And this bird you'll never change, oh, oh, oh, oh. And this bird you cannot change. And this bird you cannot change. Lord knows, I can't change. Lord, help me, I can't change. Lord, I can't change. Won't you fly high, free bird, yeah? AND I LIKE THE BURRITOS. A LOT!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
